Learn Something New Everyday
I’m searching for new things in my new city, NYC. Today I’ve found two.
Thing 1: Library in the middle of the city. Wow. Very cool. You can rent DVD’s and music and books of course. All for free. I couldn’t believe it. There is a slice of solace in the midst of madness.
Thing 2: Distrust. Wow. It’s growing strong in me. In a city so massive one can’t help but to feel small and somewhat vulnerable. What is the cure - distrust. That’s what makes us tough. that’s why this city is labeled as being so cold. I’ve only been here for three days and I’ve grown so cold already. I trust no one. No one is worthy of a kind eye. That would just leave me open and vulnerable.
NYC is known as a city of opportunity for the good and the bad. When you are here, it’s as if everyone is looking for an opportunity to take advantage of something, even if that something is you.
Maybe that is why I’m so shocked to find a free library in the middle of the city. They are so vulnerable and maybe that is why they are yet so inviting.
